Handyman Saturday: Lock your deadbolt without a key
Safety, Security, and Gadgety all at once? Well, I found it this week, browsing the internet.
The Turner Deadbolt allows homeowners to lock their deadbolt from the outside, without a key. For families with kids (and all the bags, toys, and stuff that kids come with) getting out a key to lock the door can be just enough of a hassle that we don’t do it. Shame on us!
More than 60 percent of residential burglaries happen during the day, while the owners are not home. If your door isn’t even locked, the burglar can walk in and out completely unhindered.
The Turner Deadbolt makes locking your home easy and fast, and even allows latchkey school-age children to lock up after themselves. A rotating outer ring locks but does not unlock the deadbolt. Otherwise, it works like any other: a knob inside and a standard keyhole.
