Per the traditional “State what you are thankful for..” ritual, I thought it only natural to include that here. 

I am thankful for friendship, for people in my life that choose to spend time with me, that enjoy my company, and manage to laugh at my jokes. I am thankful for having such a broad range of friends- from gamers and LEGO freaks to my in-laws hummingbird-banding friends that sometimes babysit my kid. Fun coworkers willing to teach me more about computers and internet friends that share my triumphs and my pain. You know who you are.

I’m most especially thankful for my two closest friends Megan and Owen. The first is also my wife, and coparent, but most of all she is a fast friend whose loyalty and love has never let me down. The second is my son, my mini-me, since he looks so much like me. But he’s not me. He has a fun and rambunctious personality, and is much more outgoing and reckless than I ever was. He makes me proud that he’s so bold and daring, and that makes the affectionate, sweet moments all the sweeter.

I’ve had some hard times, been very very low in life. And through those times, my same friends were ever there for me. I only hope that I can do as much for my friends when they need me.
