Ren Faire: Not Fair!
We went to the Arizona Renaissance Faire over the weekend and realized something totally not fair - we’ve grown up! We both used to be enamored of all the “cool” jewelry and stuff you could get at the Faire. But it’s just not our style anymore.
The clothing and weaponry are still gorgeous but even if we had the money we wouldn’t spend it on that kind of luxury item we’d use once a year. The shows are fun but we’ve been to so many Faires now that the shows are getting REALLY repetative and that’s less fun. We can almost recite a lot of the jokes.
We did have a good time - Steak on a Stake is, after all, one of the joys of life. We had fantastic company - good friends Rob, Deb, Sean and Katie. We saw a new Whip show and the always cool Birds of Prey show and they added a Pirate to the first joust which was different and amusing… so it was worth the 3.5 hour drive one way… But I don’t know that we’ll be going again until Owen is old enough to enjoy it - which likely won’t be until he’s 5 or 6.
We saw so many exhausted and overstimulated kids just losing it and felt so bad for them. So…. Farewell to the Faire….at least for the time being!

I have to say… we feel the same way about them. The sister 10 years my junior wants to go and dress up this year. I don’t know if I have that in me anymore. Not fair, I say also! Why? Because that means we may actually be growing up..

The other day, I got off work early. I went home and vacuumed instead of building LEGO. What’s become of us?

I know!! It’s a sad thing to realize we’re adults.
